Customer Reviews for  'Rock Band 2'

tough but fun
in order to unlock things in game you haVE TO PLAY ON MEDIUM AND HARD LEVELS...and trust me it is really difficult when you play the drums on this game

Large improvement to first Rock Band title
I love Rock Band 1, but I was thoroughly disappointed in not being able to play World Tour on Xbox Live. Harmonix heard our complaints and fixed that issue as well as allowing you to create one rocker to play all instruments instead of having a different rocker for every instrument (that was annoying). If you like music games, then this is a great one, and if you only can afford one, this is the best of all the music games I've played.

lots of fun but songs couldve been a lot better
i have been playing this game for about 3 weeks now.im pretty far into it.there are a few 70's hard rock songs and "eye of the tiger" but mostly its punk, ska, alternative and stuff like that.i couldve come up with countless better lists that would appeal to a far wider audience.
the singing parts are simple enough.on the harder songs it is simply more particular about your range.which is really annoying since you cant beat the game on easy level.
the guitar is smashing!its cool, once again,on easy level only.there are 100 guitar classics i wouldve put on here and i see none of them.so,for the record, robert smith, eric clapton, jim martin, jimi hendrix, ace frehley, jimmy page, randy rhodes, jack e lee, zack wylde, kieth richards and stevie ray vaughan are all ABSENT from this game.but the guitar is fun anyway.it just could have been a whole lot better.
the drums are way to complicated.its like the first time you tried to drive.everythings going way too fast, minds racing to keep up,you feel like you need 2 more hands etc.im no drummer but i doubt it had to be that much of a pain in the butt.
you will eventually gain fans, money, fame see the world and all that cool stuff.there are all sorts of cool costumes also.in each town i dress up appropriately, like in texas:cowboy, san fran sisco:hippie. and on like that.
you can also buy accessories like shades or make up if youre a chick.i made a chick for fun and gave her a strung out look.
this game grows on you quickly and can get a little addictive.its a lot of fun minus its rough edges.i would go into this purchase expecting a fast paced heavy sounding loud rock game not a display of greats from the past or anything appropriate.
speaking of appropriate,i simply cannot belive that nirvana was allowed on this game after kurt cobains admission to being a pedophile.i also cant belive the song "aqua lung" made it too.that song starts off about a sex offender guy watching small children.now that s@#t is fu@#ed up.what the H$%L is this world coming to where songs are written like this and then revered on a video game.i hold down vomit everytime i hear nirvana or that sickening aqua lung.

Great Game but a Little Rough Around the Edges
I bought this game in order to expand my musical horizons. I'm not a fan of modern rock music, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to expose myself to it more. I can't complain too much about the songs included on the game; they are all, for the most part, nice to play and not terrible to listen to. I was a little disappointed at how rough the interface seemed, especially in comparison to The Beatles: Rock Band. In particular, the notes seemed a little lower in definition. It doesn't hurt the game, but it's less aesthetic for my tastes. As far as customization, I really like how there are several options for your instrument. I generally play bass, so I was glad to see that their bass selection was more than ample to satisfy my desires. I haven't played online, but I imagine it's probably not too different from The Beatles: Rock Band in that if you know and like the songs it's a very enjoyable social experience. Other than the graphics being a little rough, I don't have any real complaints about this game.

Music Gaming Masterpiece
Just for reference I have the 360 version of Rock Band 2. I must say they is easily the best music/rhythm ever made. Period. I would also says its one of the best games ever. It took the great features of the original (full band play, weekly DLC, great charts, etc.) And tweaked them slighty to make the near perfect RB1 completely flawless! The 84-song-setlist on this game is IMO the setlist of any Guitar Hero or Rock Band game and don't forget about the 20 free songs you get just for buying the game! Along with WEEKLY DLC (epic winsauce), RB1 exportability, and Rock Band Network coming this fall (Google it) there is a nearly endless amount of playable tracks in the game, all with great charts provided by Harmonix (expect for RBN of course). This game is perfect and you should buy it, enough said.
