F1 Mag Review |
I have subscribed to F1 Racing for several years and it is a great mag if you are an F1 fan. Peter Windsor and sometimes Steve Matchett of Speed TV are contributors along with a several other petrol heads who seem have access to F1 insiders and produce lots of detailed articles about the drivers and personalities of F1 and what they get up to at the races and away from the race tracks of the world. In addition there are lots of technical articles about the cars and the teams technical staff. The writing is not simply the official press release soundbites you get on F1 web sites, but detail interviews and stories by the writers themselves having spent some time, often quite a few days with the person being storied. Most of the articles are about the present or pre-season but there are also a few items about former drivers, cars and events often writen by a guest driver.
The photography is great too. There is a monthly "Parade" section with the best pics of the month, each pic presented on two full pages.
I live in Austin TX and the magazine usually arrives half way through the month of the cover month, which is about when it hits the magazine stands here. For that reason I don't buy it for the race results thats for sure, but the inside info and stories are well worth it.

Pricey but worth it for F1 fans |
|
F1 Racing is an expensive option for US-based F1 devotees. But if you are a hardcore F1 follower, then it is one of the few sources of comprehensive coverage. The content ranges from feature articles on the current/past drivers to light technical topics to race recaps and previews. Unfortunately, the magazine sometimes arrives stateside after the previewed races have already been run. That concern aside, the content is both entertaining and insightful. If you are willing to pay the cost, then you will likely be satisfied. |

Don't waste your money |
|
I bought this and I've got the July issue but the September issue is already on the newstand. You are always 2 issues behind the newstand. What a ripoff! They must buy the bulk leftover unsold newstand magazines and ship them third class to have them arrive so late. Go to the newstand if you want it. There is absolutely no customer service to complain to either. They won't give you an email or a phone number. |

The Pinacle of Motor Sport Journalism |
|
Formula 1 is the pinacle of Motor Sport and this magazine is the pinacle of motor sport journalism. It includes indepth reports on everyone and everything related to F1. It will give you a much deeper and wider understanding of the sport. This is a great magazine that I have read cover to cover each month for about 2 years now. My only complaint is that it arrives about 2 weeks after it's publication in England, but it is worth the wait. |
